Skill Development
Skills to improve job opportunities
Need for the Program
- Over 90% of families largely depend on agriculture, of which 65% own less than 30% of the agriculture land. Annual rainfall is around 571mm, with 40 days of rain and frequent droughts.
- In Koppal district, 82% of the total 5,00,542 ha land is cultivated only once, due to lack of irrigational facilities, frequent drought and limited rains. The situation isn’t different in other northern districts of Karnataka.
- Majority of the farmers from villages of these districts migrate to cities in search of alternate jobs, leaving behind the aged members of the families to survive with meagre amounts.
- Most of these migrants end up as daily wage labourers in construction related jobs, as they lack skills for any other jobs. This further deteriorates their conditions.
